Behind the scenes

EXTRACT OF TEXT OF THE DESCRIPTIVE PANEL :

Who are you ?

Stéphanie Huc (1974), midwife, impassioned voyages.
Jean Guillemot (1973), photographer/realisator, former teacher Life sciences and Earth.

Why to have carried out this way ?

Fanny - a major interest for the works of adventure, and the discovery in my parents of the Evariste Huc book. This journey matured during all my youth. To leave on the Evariste Huc traks, remained my principal objective, with the same perhaps common ancestor and surname.

Jean - Put aside the challenge that this voyage represented, I wished to undertake a teaching project with classes of primary education and college. Throughout our way, I diffused regularly on our site (http://education.bleu-outremer.net), articles, musics, vidéos on various topics : history, Chinese civilization, geography, cooking, etc. The professors connected themselves on Internet site and used this tool with their pupils. It was a means for them of travelling with us and of discovering China of our ways.

Which was the preparation for this voyage ?

Fanny - One does not leave on the traks of a great adventurer with impunity ; that requires a good knowledge of the character and his forwarding. One year of preparation and research was necessary to undertake this voyage and to reconstitute the way of Evariste Huc.

Jean - In parallel, the installation of the teaching project (meets classes, installation and management of Internet site) required several months of reflexion before and during the way. During five months of voyage, we diffused more 56 articles, 400 photographs, 18 vidéos and musics.

Which equipment did you take along ?

Fanny - We had two aluminium VTT (bought in Beijing) equipped with satchels and a carriole for child (to carry the bulky material). We were distributed 70 kg of luggage: a tent, two bags of bed (- 30 °C), four tee-shirt synthetic, two jackets and ski pants, two jackets wind-cutters, a flexible solar panel, a portable computer, a camera FD, a numerical apparatus, a silver apparatus, 120 roll slides, etc.

What it was the major difficulty of this voyage ?

Fanny - the track races with the Tibetan dogs . They are true mastodons doped with the steroids, terror of the cyclists of the Tibetan Mountain range...
